If I had to choose one season as my favorite, it would be summer. There are just too many things to love about it; the beach, summer dresses, flip flops, BBQs, fruity cocktails, evening walks… vacations!!!
On the flip side of that, there are also things about the summer time that make me want to run away and hide. Aside from trying to motivate myself to go back to the gym, I also have to step it up a notch when it comes to caring for my skin. To prepare, I always follow these 4 skin care musts to kick it off.
My number one summer skin must-have is SPF. Really it’s a year-round must have, but in the summer I am religious about reapplying and making sure I am covered in broad spectrum sunscreen from head to toe. I have oily skin, so for my face, I switch to a powder SPF which makes reapplication super easy.
Next is exfoliation. As the layers start coming off and I start showing more skin, exfoliating becomes part of my daily routine. A body scrub helps slough off dead skin cells, making my skin look and feel smoother. It also helps with my number three must – self tanning.
Let’s face it; some of us get pasty over the winter season. As much as I’d LOVE to bask in the sun and get a real tan, I am trying to be better about caring for my skin; especially since I have a few brown spots now. There are tons of self tanners to choose from. I am trying a few right now and will keep you posted on my favorites.
Last but not least is firming. Like I said earlier, I am trying to motivate myself to go back to the gym. While I continue “trying” I also aim for the quick fix skin firming cream to try to make an improvement. No luck yet, but this is another product I continue to experiment with. More on that soon…
