A scenic picture of the Newport Beach sunset garners a #nofilter hashtag, your birthday balloons receive a bright instagram filter, and the group shot of you and your girlfriends gets put through a 3-app ringer with contrast adjustment, lighting manipulations, filter effects, and a blur bubble. Why? Because your face has to be absolutely flawless when you blast it out to 500 of your closest social followers!
Coming from someone who usually has to add a filter or two to take the focus off any blemishes or spots, I recently found a few saving graces in the product department to alleviate this effort:
1. Laura Geller’s Spackle Under Make-up Primer does to my face what Home Depot’s spackle does to my bedroom when I don’t hang picture frames accurately and rip giant holes through the drywall. (I can’t believe I used drywall correctly in an everyday sentence. Thanks, Dad!) This bad boy keeps everything smooth and holds foundation in its place.
2. Le Metier de Beaute’s Classic Flawless Finish Foundation can single handedly help me stop having to adjust my photos; this foundation covers any problem areas plus it leaves my skin feeling softer than it started! I have even seen an improvement in my skin’s overall appearance after wearing this foundation for a few weeks. Shade 7 matches my olive complexion perfectly.
3. Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sensual Skin Powder Foundation is the perfect product to set liquid foundation for someone with problematic skin – much like myself. This powder provides great coverage while absorbing any shine from my skin’s natural oils or from the liquid foundation oxidizing. Shade PF04 works best for my skin.
4. Manna Kadar’s Blush in Entice is the easiest way to add a little contour and contrast without being over dramatic with excessive bronzer. One sweep right underneath your cheekbones allows for just the right amount of shadowing while maintaining a natural pink color.
I hope this four product make-up regimen allows you to start de-filtering your photos too! Happy posting!
