When it comes to choosing the correct brow color for you, the options can appear almost as daunting as choosing the right foundation. Hair color…skin tone…undertone…how many do we take into account? The answer is actually simpler than one may think. While skin tone is important, hair color plays a crucial role in selecting the right brow shade for your features.
As a general rule, women with light hair should choose a brow shade that is one to two shades darker than their hair color. Women with dark hair should choose a brow shade that is one to two shades lighter than their hair color. You never want your brows and hair to match exactly, but you do want them to coordinate. If your hair is very dark, having overly dark brows will overpower the other features on the face. The opposite is true for very light hair. Very light hair with very light brows won’t show up at all, and won’t add anything to highlight the features of the face.
One tip I give all of my clients is to layer colors in the same or similar shades. I love using a combination of Brow Powder Duo and Brow Wiz on the eyebrow for extra depth and dimension. I follow up with a Tinted Brow Gel in the same or slightly lighter shade for highlights and added brightness around the eye area.
