Fall is quickly approaching and we all want to keep our sun kissed skin in tip top shape. With this change in season, it is very important to listen to your skin and get in a good routine. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the ARCONA Studio in Santa Monica for a facial. The spa atmosphere and facial treatment were incredible. It also got me thinking because let’s be honest, we cannot all afford to get facials every month. I decided to ask their estheticians for recommendations for a Do It Yourself Facial at home, to help stretch out your visits to the spa. I want to share these tips and tricks with you because it is a great routine to get into and an easy way to keep your skin glowing all year long.
In order to put your best face forward, you must be consistent and diligent about doing these facials once a week. If you do this, you will actually see results much faster than just going to get a professional treatment once a month. Consistency is always better than a quick fix!
4 basics to remember for your DIY Facial: Cleanse, Peel, Mask, and Hydrate!
1. Cleanse- Wash your face twice to thoroughly remove all of the makeup, oil and dirt. I personally love the ARCONA Tea Toner Bar because it is gentle enough for my sensitive skin and does not leave my skin feeling dry or flaky. I also prefer to use it with my Clarisonic!
2. Peel- Apply the Raspberry Resurfacing Peel or the Mandarin Brightening Peel for 10 minutes. The Raspberry Resurfacing Peel is more active and stronger than the Mandarin Brightening Peel so if you have sensitive skin, use this for 5 minutes or just use the Mandarin Brightening Peel. Both of these peels help cleanse your pores and dissolve blackheads, leaving your skin tight and radiant! Who doesn’t want that!?
3. Mask- Rinse and apply the Wine Hydrating Mask or the Tea Tree mask to calm and balance your skin. This can be left on your skin for 10 to 45 minutes! My favorite is the soothing Wine Hydrating Mask because it helps stimulate cell renewal and revitalize your skin with macadamia nut and carrot oils, vitamin and hyaluronic acid. If you have breakout prone or oily skin, opt for the Tea Tree Mask that has antibacterial ingredients salicylic acid and tea tree extract along with healing anti-inflammatory extracts.
4. Hydrate- Rinse and apply the appropriate moisturizer or antioxidant complex. My favorite is Magic White Ice, which is definitely an ARCONA hero product! It has a gel like consistency and is filled with aloe, white tea, cranberry, and vitamins for a healthy complexion. I like to add pure Aloe Vera to my moisturizer to help combat redness and inflammation.
Tip: Make this fun and easy by doing your weekly facial during your favorite TV show. I like doing mine on Sunday during Real Housewives, so I can start my week off with a glow! Cleanse during a commercial and apply your peel. During the next commercial, remove your peel and apply your mask. Relax during a few commercials, then rinse off your mask and hydrate before catching “Watch What Happens!” You can even invite a few girls over for organic wine, facials and Real Housewives each Sunday!
