I love my beauty products. When one of my skin care products is running low, I try to get a replacement as soon as possible. Sadly, I don’t always have the time or budget to purchase a new product every time I run out! To remedy these situations, I spend a few minutes moping around, and then turn to the good old world wide web to find a do-it-yourself beauty recipe. Here are a few of my favorites!
I am one of those exfoliating freaks. There’s nothing like getting rid of dead skin cells and rough patches, refining pores and treating acne all in one scrubbing step! Thanks to MakeupLovesMe.com, I know I’ll never be without an exfoliator again. Even when my beloved scented scrubs are gone, I know I can always run to the fridge to grab some Baking Soda! Visit MakeupLovesMe.com to learn the secret recipe for this exfoliating remedy.
Who doesn’t hate those stupid blemishes that insist on appearing at the most inopportune moments? Running out of your acne products at the wrong time can leave you feeling frustrated, stressed and wanting to crawl back into bed until your blemish disappears on its own. Luckily, all you need is one or two frozen strawberries, some cornstarch and a bit of honey to restore clear skin!
Microwave one large or two small frozen strawberries until mushy. Mash the strawberries with a fork and mix in 1-2 tablespoons of corn starch. Then, drizzle in a little honey. Mix it all together to create a thick paste and apply to your entire face, or use it as a spot treatment. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and remove with warm water. The corn starch will absorb excess oil while the strawberry, naturally rich in salicylic acid, will exfoliate the skin and help unclog pores. Finally, the honey will moisturize the skin while its natural antibacterial properties will help banish your breakouts! Please be warned – this mask will not feel good on sensitive or sunburned skin.
If you’re out of your daily moisturizer or find your dry skin in need of a moisture boost, this mask is perfect for you. Mash one 1/2 cup of avocado in a bowl and stir in one 1/4 cup of honey. Apply to the skin and leave on for about 10 minutes, then remove with a cool washcloth. Honey, as I mentioned above, is both moisturizing and antibacterial, while avocado offers a slew of skin anti aging benefits due to its high concentrations of essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals.
