I don’t really have any good tips. I’m still trying to figure the whole sunless tanning thing out. I always end up with streaks or orange spots.
Less is more…exfoliation is key
For spray tan, use lotion on rough areas before tanning.
Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!!!
I just throw on some spf tanning lotion and go out when I do yard work in a skimpy lil bikini and grab some sun as I work..:) No neighbors so its easy,,,:)
Lathering up first with moisturizer on your body and face will prevent those horrible streaks!
exfoliate first to make sure it goes on evenly!
I love the baby powder tip!
Always looking for the perfect sunless tan, and no parabens is a definite plus!
exfoliate first!
My favorite tip, is exfoliate well before applying. Its helps the color develop better and more evenly. You will find you use less product to achieve the color you want!
Peg~
My best tanning trick is to take a quick dip in the water prior to tanning. The moisture from the water will help expedite the sun’s rays which will save you time in achieving your perfect tan. In addition, the water itself will reflect the sun’s rays which also will expedite the tanning process, so you will want to keep that in mind as well as to not over tan.
i only know the typical tips like exfoliate in the shower, pat dry (don’t run), apply self tanner, apply moisturizer!
I always use a bronzer to help with my tan. I will also spray tan/use tanning lotion and tan outside or in a bed for faster results.
My tip when self tanning is exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate!!!
Sounds so much better than my self tanning. I am unable to be in the sun, but love to look like I do. I usually exfoliate with sugar and almond oil. Use a self tanner, and try to moisturize moisturize mmoisturize…but after the first or second time…I look horrible horrible:( would love to try a new way!
Do it only 2 times a week.
My favorite self-tanning tip is to exfoliate the face and the body before applying the self-tanning lotion – and then I apply it very evenly.
When I use sunless tanner, I always put a small amount of lotion on my hands first and rub my hands together to cover my palms so that the tanner is easier to wash off my hands afterward and so that it has less chance of turning my palms dark. I also rub my lotioned palms lightly over my knees, toes, ankles, and elbows to provide a very light coating of lotion over these areas which helps keep those areas from depositing too much tanner and developing darker patches in those areas. As I apply the tanner, I always spread the tanner thoroughly with my palms making sure to go back over each area several times as I rub to make sure not to leave any streaks or uneven areas. I don’t stop smoothing the tanner out until it is almost completely dry or soaked into the skin in that area. Finally, I always wash my hands thoroughly after applying the tanner making sure to focus on washing between my fingers and washing my palm edges where the hands attach to the arm because those are the prime areas where dark deposits are likely to occur once the tanner starts to develop (and then it is virtually too late to get rid of those deposits!!)
My favorite tanning tip is to make sure you exfoliate your skin well before you apply your tanner.
squeeze 2 lemons and 2 limes into a squirt bottle and fill the rest up with water and lay out for 30 min on each side, perfect tan
Exfoliate thoroughly as prep and continually moisturize!
definitely to use gradual tan lotions
My favorite tip is to exfoliate your skin before applying the tanner. This makes application more even and a better overall look.
exfoliate the entire body before any kind of tan (sun or not) it makes your body looks smooth and tan is glowing.
I use Jergens natural glow !It works but you have to wash your hands or the web of your hands turn orange. When I was younger I used baby oil and coffee grounds.Didn’t like the smell and you had to be in the sun for it to work
Make sure you exfolate your skin before you get a spray tan very important to get the layer of “dead” skin off.
Exfoliate! Also, use a cotton ball or makeup applicator to sparingly apply tanner to hands, knees, and other places that tanner tends to look too dark
Exfoliate well and use wet wipes to help prevent hands and feet from looking awful
When trying to tan the back of your hands, squeeze a little bit of product on the back of one hand and then rub the backs of your hands together to spread the product evenly and without having to wash products off your fingers
I never tan before, I have always wanted to try tanning but I am scare of turning orange lol.
Eat lots of carrots
everything in moderation
Self tan during the day so you’re not immediately laying in bed after application. It’s also important to exfoliate
Apply moisturizer to any dry areas like elbows, knees, hands, etc before self-tanning so they don’t absorb too much of the self-tanner.
Always exfoliate prior to using a self tanner in order for the color to go on evenly.
My favorite self tanning tip is to put on a light layer of body lotion (especially on hands, elbows, knees, and feet) before applying self tanner. This is assuming you did exfoliate first
I always use spf jergen’s natural glow.
My favorite tip is don’t tan !!
My favorite tanning tip is to take a quick dip in the water prior to tanning. The moisture from the water helps to expedite the sun’s rays which ALWAYS saves me time in achieving the perfect tan.
I don’t have any tips but I learned from the video to apply the self tanning lotion with a sponge an d then carry a blush brush and baby powder. I have also heard you should exfoliate your skin first before applying self-tanning products.
I would love to win Colour Couture Self-Tanning SkinCare. I don’t have any self-tanning product right now. I also don’t believe in tanning and using a SPF30 or higher.
My favorite tanning tip is to take your time and moisturize daily afterwards!
My tanning tip/trick is to make sure your skin is clean, smooth and healthy before applying tanning products. Stay well hydrated inside and out, exfoliate to reduce rough patches and peeling areas of skin. Don’t over do it, a nice subtle healthy glow is perfection.
My trick always exfoliate before self tanning no matter what. It makes a difference how your self tanning lotion go on and stays on. Also moisturize every day after applying to prolong life of your self tan
It’s all about the fake tan! I’ve tried Jergens tanning foam on my legs, not bad results. I mix some bronzer in with my foundation to try for some color on my pale skin.
I have never tried tanning before, but from what I hear less is more when it comes to tanning.
Every other day, I exfoliate with my shower gloves and always moisturize to keep my skin smooth and plumped. Using sunscreen, I develop a tiny bit of base “tan” which really isn’t tan at all. Just one shade off indoor pale.
After a fresh shower, exfoliation, and shave, I ALWAYS blend my self tannr with lotion
After a fresh shower, exfoliation, and shave, I ALWAYS blend my self tanner with lotion in my hand before applying. This is sure to give me a non-streaked, even colored look.
dislike the darkening that end up on your hands(calouses especially)use the foot exfoliator to remove any darkening. Can also use a little bleach to remove the darkening.
My face color is usually darker than my neck, so I apply self tanner on my neck and chest. That way I don’t have that line that shows the difference in color…
Put moisturizer on dry patches, like elbows and knees, before applying self tan lotion. Also always exfoliate your body and face before applying self tanner.
Exfoliate both face, neck and body before using self tanner. Also on dry patches like knees and elbows apply moisturizer. Wait for lotion to dry before putting on clothes or brush on baby powder on body.
I exfoliate and then apply my self tanning lotion with a little moisturizer with a big, soft brush and then rub over for a nice overall application
I exfoliate rougher areas like heels, elbows, and knees, and use the gradual tanning lotion. I have fair skin, and like just a subtle glow, nothing too drastic.
Exfoliate of course, but I also like to apply self tanner shortly after a steamy shower. I towel off, apply a small amount of lotion and then my tanner. I think it is absorber better that way and when my skin is moist, I turn out less streaky!
Good exfoliation.
Best to self-tan after shower with exfoliator. Always use lighter selftaner than darker- it is easier to add than to take away.
I live in South Fla and have had way too much sun in my lifetime, so I wear the special shirts when at the barn with my horse as well as a hat. I need advice on self tanning products to use that are safe and won’t turn me orange!
Always put sunscreen on,before tanning on the sun,and eat more organic carrots, they give your skin some color!!!
dont use too much self tanner, you will turn orange!
Exfoliate, blend and wear gloves!
Still looking for the perfect self-tanner. I use a special one for the face and that seems to help. Would love to try a new brand.
I always make sure to exfoliate first!
exfoliate before tanning
Bronzer for face, neck and sometimes chest. For self tanner, exfoliate, a little vaseline for dry areas, wear gloves, then a little sponge for hands and feet.
In this order: shower, exfoliate, sunscreen, self tanner and ready to glow
I like to use exfoliating gloves in the shower with my regular bath wash a few days in a row prior to getting my spray.
I like to mix my sunless tanner with lotion, then apply, no streaks, works great.
It is absolutely essential to exfoliate before self-tanning. After tanning, you have to moisturize skin thoroughly (and constantly) to keep that “summer glow”.
Oh, and try to skip shaving as much as possible. Shaving basically exfoliates your tan away!
Exfoliate and moisturize first before using self-tanners to avoid unsightly streaks
Exfoliate first, apply tanner, moisturize, and apply bronzer.
My faux tan tip, always exfoliate, moisturize your heels, elbows, hands (anywhere you don’t want too much color), and I still will wear plastic gloves, until I’m finished, then use a small cotton pad, and a q-tip, to finish fingers and hands.
use lotion tomoisturize dry skin, blend tanning product well
Use regular sugar to exfoliate, it doesnt contain oils like most body scrubs which can leave your skin blotchy. use hair drier on cool setting to dry, blotch with tissue in creases.
moisturize the night before and apply tanner in circles
I always tell my clients if they are showering right before coming to me to have a cool shower not too hot as the body temperature matters, I also send instructions of what to do prior to tanning via a text message eg exfoliate, no lotions or deodorant etc then they can’t tell me they didn’t know what to do ( that’s my top tip to new tanning techs !!!!!) Happy tanning
I use a good body lotion, then self-tanner, then bronzed
My favorite sunless tan tip is that when I start my process. I make a mini home spa evening of it. I start by exfoliating and moisturizing. I light candles in the bathroom, I put on soft music. It relaxes me and when I wake up in the morning I’m fresh, soft and glowing. Makes for a perfect weekend.
Exfoliate and use a cotton ball to lightly apply to knees, hands, ankles…all the places that it tends to collect.
For really dry spots, like elbows and knees, mix a bit of lotion into your self tanner to cut down how much color grabs onto those areas.
I love wearing bronzer, it makes me look sunkissed and gives me the perfect tan look!
A perfect tan is achieved by exfoliating, shaving and moisturizing evenly and well before using the self tanning products. Then when using them, apply a small amount in one direction only and don’t go over a spot more than once or it will be uneven. It takes a while to get up to speed but you just have to relax and know it will take a while to prepare and use these products correctly for that WOW tan.
With self tanner, be sure to exfoliate first and be sure to use a cleanser to clean your palms!
I like to exfoliate before I use self tan. I’m very cautious so I would wear dark color clothing for the rest of the day.
exfoliation beforehand
Moisturize and exfoliate it keeps skin supple and healthy.
I really don’t know that much about sunless tanning but at my age and with the very pale skin of a redhead that I have I could use all the help I can get. I have tried the tanning bed way but with my father and my brother both having had melanoma I am avoiding the sun as much as possible. This prize would be a god send for me.
The key is to exfoliate and moisturize before using a sunless product, and apply sparingly but evenly
Exfoliate and use a good oil free body lotion to help make your tan last longer!
My trick is putting cream around my toenails and fingernails so they don’t look creepy
Exfoliation, exfoliation, exfoliation! Did I mention exfoliation? LOL! The skin has to be super-smooth before applying any self-tanner – it will come out even and last longer!
I really don’t have any tips! To me, sunless tanning is a hard thing to figure out! Streaks, orange color….. I need a sure fire way of doing it that works!
Always shower or bath before applying. I have always applied in circular motion not right I guess according to video.
Exfoliate before applying sunless tanner and don’t put too much on your knees & elbows!
I always exfoliate, and then when applying the self-tanner, I rub a little body lotion on my heels, tops of the feet and knees so everything is blended evenly . . .
Exfoliate, exfoilate and do it again
Exfoliate first, follow by some moisturizer(let it soak in for a few minutes)..then apply self tanner.
Natural tan baby.
Start with exfoliated, moisturized skin, and be sure to start with minimal amounts of self-tanner. You can always build up with more. Blend, blend, blend
I like to exfoliate first.
Shaving, exfoliating and mosturizing are a must, it helps to get the right color.
Exfoliate regularly and moisturize, is the trick for me to tanning.
Exfoliate!
Definitely have to exfoliate and shave before you apply a self tanner!! Then keep moisturizing afterwards!
wear a big hat and minimal tanning.
exfoliate my skin!
I always rub a damp cloth over my knees, elbows and ankles after I self tan. This way those areas will not be darker than the rest of my body.
Always moisturize the dry areas with lotion, so they won’t absorb as much self-tanner. Use a fingernail scrub brush immediately after applying self-tanner, so cracks and crevices in your hands won’t look streaky and odd later…
My favorite tip is to use a little bit of lemon juice on a cotton ball to remove tanning mishaps. It usually won’t make a dramatic difference but it’s enough to even out streaks and splotches
Exfoliate well..add a little extra body butter to it for moisture..sunless tanning is drying
Use a good quality tanning lotion. Wash hands before hitting the bed so not to stain your hands & between your fingers. Always use lots of lotion after you tan & shower. Like to use tanners for areas I don’t get so well in the bed to even things out. Should give up the bed!!
