Many of us have experienced how comforting a warm cup of chamomile tea can be during cold winter months. But did you know that chamomile tea provides some great benefits when applied to the skin or hair topically? It is packed with antioxidants; so it makes a great addition to any skincare routine.
I accidentally discovered the healing powers of chamomile, while dealing with an annoying blemish that seemed to grow larger by the hour. I consider myself a bit of an amateur apothecary, so I decided to head to the kitchen in our office to see what sort of home remedy I could cook up. I decided to brew a cup of Tazo Calm-Chamomile tea; Next, I saturated a cotton ball with the tea and applied it to the blemish. (Be sure to allow the liquid to cool a bit to avoid burning yourself). I continued to dab the tea on to the blemish for about 15 minutes. The redness and size of the blemish was significantly reduced by the end of my work day. This is one of many beauty secrets that I happily share with my co-workers.
Initially I thought that my discovery might be pure happenstance but after doing a little research on the beauty benefits of Chamomile Tea, I realized that I was on to something.
Here are 6 ways that you can incorporate Chamomile Tea into your health/beauty regimen:
- Soothe Irritated or Puffy Eyes
- Mouth Rinse
- Leave-in Hair Rinse for Moisture and Shine
- Foot Soak for Achy or Tired Feet
- Facial toner
- To soothe rashes, mild burns, or sunburn
If you are not quite the Home Remedy or Do It Yourself (DIY) type, there are many beauty products on the market that are already infused with chamomile. You can check out a few of my favorites like John Master’s Organic Bare Unscented Shampoo For All Hair Types, Klorane Soothing and Relaxing Patches for Tried Eyes, or Apivita Natural Soap with Chamomile.
