Despite my usual minimal appearance when it comes to makeup, I love it. The only problem is I’m not quite sure how to use all my new colors, and when I try to copy what I see in the magazines, it doesn’t quite turnout how I imagined. This is where our resident copywriter/makeup artist extraordinaire steps in. I have always wanted to have sultry, sexy smokey eyes, but my eye shape and smaller eye lid, makes it tricky. This How To for Asian Eyes is a perfect way for others that have a similar eye shape to mine to pick up some pointers and create Lyneeka’s nighttime smokey eye look.
- Black Eye liner (both liquid and pencil, or just pencil)
1.) Apply a natural-hued primer all over lid
2.) Apply medium brown shade to crease of eyelid, using a crease brush (A must if you do not have a crease or a small crease, this creates the illusion of a larger lid)
3.) Lightly apply Highlighter shade under brow bone with a smaller shadow brush
4.) Using crease brush apply dark brown to outside corners and apply highlighter color on lids, blending with dark brown
5.) Light blend entire look using a fuller shadow brush (be sure to use a light hand)
6.) Add black eyeliner pencil to water line on lower lash line. Apply black eyeliner (can be liquid or pencil) along top lash line
7.) For a more dramatic look smudge dark brown shadow and liner on the bottom lash line
8.) Apply a little highlighter to the inner corners of your eye (helps eyes appear more open and awake)
9.) Finish off your entire look with a few coats of mascara
So there you have it! She made it look so simple, but like me, it may take a few at-home tries to perfect it. I am in awe of how suddenly my brown eyes pop! This look works for all shapes of eyes, however I found that Asian eyes will especially benefit from the crease and highlighting tips. A little not-so-secret-secret is to make sure your eye brows are bold and shaped. This will help pull the entire look together!
Personally, I will definitely be making plans to take this look out for a spin. Vegas anyone?
