Last night marked the 19th Screen Actors Guild Awards, and as a prelude to the hotly anticipated Oscars, the stars were on show once again. Who ever is lucky enough to receive the posing naked man accolade is generally a frontrunner for an Oscar, but as always that isn’t our #1 concern. The Golden Globes are gone and forgotten and the SAG Awards are generally a little more relaxed, but we’re here to cast our eye over the red carpet and see who could step it up, and who would crash and burn. Seeing the looks from last night I couldn’t help but be disappointed. Sure there was a few that looked stunning as always, but there was a high number of just boring and terrible outfits. Take a look and see if you agree with our top and not so top picks from the SAG Awards.
Navy was without a doubt the hue of the night, and Jennifer Lawrence continues to impress everyone when she steps out under the limelight, here looking more and more like an elegant, seasoned professional. Navy would normally be considered playing it safe, especially for such a young woman, but coupled with oxblood-colored lips, simple yet stunning jewelry, plus those waves, and you have a red carpet winner.
Stepping it up a notch, the 45-year-old definitely brought a WOW factor to the night. Illusion neckline, lace detail, and a sexy slit make this navy gown oh so sexy, and makes me very proud to call her an Australian!
Looking like a sultry goddess, honing the beauty of Cleopatra, Sofia Vergara is an absolute knockout. In a white gold liquid gown, the 40-year-old Columbian actress looks more like a 20-something, taking Hollywood glamor and mixing it with modern elegance to give us a look we won’t forget anytime soon.
I don’t know who you are but I like you. Everything this ensemble has to offer looks perfect. A curve-hugging Alex McQueen satin gown in bold red, dazzling jewels by Harry Winston, and fiery hair is making me think back to the days of Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Lucky for us this is all real and simply gorgeous.
I really don’t know what I should say about this outfit. I don’t like using the word hate, so I won’t, but unbelievably disappointed in this choice, especially after her amazing Globes outfit. A sparkly miniskirt with not really an illusion neckline, not really lace, and more just a child’s fairy dress.
Oh Claire Danes what are you doing? Everyone likes a slit, but not when it looks like you’ve got a game of checkers going on. I’m not sure if she’s trying to find her inner goth as well with the choice of lipstick, but she definitely looks scary.
A leather gown…really?
Although I am glad to see that the orange peel has faded, Lea Michele has done herself absolutely no favors here. A bright raspberry pink mermaid gown with drop earrings and a terrible ombre do, honestly, this is just bad.
