Most gals can’t get enough of the clothes at fashion week. I however, cannot get enough of the makeup trends! Don’t get me wrong, I love designer outfits as much as the next girl, but come on, who can afford those clothes? Exactly—not that many of us. However, we can afford to recreate our favorite makeup trends instead. So here’s a look at some of the must-have makeup trends from the fall 2011 runways shows.
JIL SANDER: The sixties cat-eye was ubiquitous on the runway, but Jil Sander gave it a dose of sweetness. I love how this look is bold, yet it isn’t intimidating. Anyone can pull it off. I will definitely be rocking these blue-green cat eyes this fall! Just find your favorite shade of blue-green eyeliner to line your upper lash lines and then flick the end out to create the cat-eye.
BLUSHING BEAUTIES: Everyone in the office knows I’m a fan of blush—the brighter the better! Fortunately, I’m in good company. Designers blushed out in a major way this season using blush in a variety of shades and placements. At Marc Jacobs, wrong never looked so right. Makeup-artist Francois Nars paid homage to the women in16th century paintings where he dusted models with blush low on the cheeks near their mouths and around the jaw bone. The result is a pretty, yet interesting look. At Prada, models were paled-out, and then famed makeup-artist Pat McGrath applied a rosy blush to the cheeks that swept outward toward the temples, giving the girls an innocent, child-like flush.
BOLD LIPS: Go big or go home was the motto for fall makeup trends. My favorite lip look was from Missoni. The beet red color is to die
for! It’s beautiful without looking like it’s trying too hard, and it lends itself to a less formal look than a red lip. It’s glamorous and cool. Gucci models sported gorgeous glossy red lips without heavy makeup or dark eyes, so all the allure was focused on the mouth. The look was super sexy. I adored the matching burgundy red nails.
Makeup and hairstyles can totally change the vibe of an outfit on and off the runway. So have fun, try new looks and don’t take it too seriously—just make sure you choose makeup trends that make you feel good!
