Ombre Nails…Ooh La La

please excuse the poor lighting!

Since my first couple of weeks working at DermStore I had been known for constantly changing and being eternally OCD about my nail polish. I am obsessed with finding what’s new and hot in the world of nail trends. My latest love is Ombre Nails, and the moment I found out how to do it in the comfort of my home, It was love at first sight.

The key to nailing (pun intended) this trend is having a white nail color and top coat. These two ombre staples are a must-have for achieving the dark to light hues. Once you have those, pick out a base color, the darker you go, the easier to do this trend.

1.)  Start with one large disposable paper plate and toothpicks.

2.)  Use nail polish remover to clean an empty nail polish brush.

3.)  Paint pinky on both hands the darkest color.

4.)  Then apply a couple drops of the dark color on a plate and add one drop of white. Blend together. Paint second nail on both hands.

5.) Don’t forget to clean off the brush between colors.

6.)  For third nail, use 2 drops of white mixed into the dark color. Paint nail on both hands.

7.)  Continue adding more white to dark polish for each nail you paint.

8.)  Once dried, apply top coat

Seventeen.com has an easy-to-follow video that helped me achieve my ombre nail look. They only do one hand, but I suggest doing both hands at the same time, to ensure you have the exact same color on either hand. As a fellow nail color fanatic, I would love to see the fruits of your labor. Post a picture on our DermStore facebook page to show off your polished pretties!
