This year, classic beauty reigned supreme at the 17th Annual SAG Awards, where sultry, smoky eyes and long, flowing waves ruled the red carpet.
“Long, loose curls were in full effect last night! Hilary Swank and Mila Kunis really nailed the look,” says Alli Webb, owner of LA’s Drybar. To get DIY waves, start with a great blowout—beginning with the front section, dry your hair using a medium-sized round brush. Next, curl your hair with a one-inch curling iron. (Webb recommends dividing your hair into four sections, tackling one at a time to ensure no hair is left behind.) Make sure the pieces you’re wrapping around the curling iron are about one inch in size, and always curl away from your face. Finish with a light spray shine product.
According to makeup artist Christina Turino of Warren-Tricomi Artists Management, “Actresses channeled the theme of the SAG awards this year through beautiful glowing skin, soft smoky eyes and nude-toned lips with a hint of shine.” The foundation for this classic aesthetic? A great foundation, of course. “Apply a mineral foundation on clean skin to start,” Turino advises. “These formulations are light and offer a built-in natural glow.” To copy Glee songstress Diana Agron’s red carpet look, apply a mocha-hued shadow all over the lids, extending outward to meet the eyebrow length. Smudge a burnt charcoal tone in the crease, then—with a light hand!—brush a soft mocha shadow on the lower lash line. Finish with black eyeliner all the way around, both on top and inside of the eye rims, and a lash-extending black mascara.
