Seasons Change , Does Skin ?

I don’t know where this year has gone ? I feel like just yesterday I was thinking about swimwear and what level of SPF I was going to wear. Now it is almost fall ( September 22nd) and even though I do love summer, fall Is my favorite time of year! I love the cooler weather, falling leaves (even though I have to drive to the mountains to see them as I live in sunny California.) I love a chance to break out hats, hoodies, blankets and all the colors of autumn.

I know we still have plenty more hot weather in September and October, however the lower humidity in fall does affect your skin. You may not notice it all at once but it does happen and this year I promised myself that I would begin to take care of my skin before I started noticing those early signs of dryness. Well, I do not exactly have dry skin, I am more on the oily side, but in fall oily skin becomes more normal and normal skin gets drier.

In fall it is super important to moisturize daily and a great time to do it is right after you get out of the shower because your pores are open from the warm water and the moisturizer will absorb better. I love using body oil when my skin is a little drier as it soaks right in and makes my skin feel so smooth.

It is also really important to exfoliate (all year long) but especially in the fall as skin is drier and as skin gets drier, it also gets flakier. If you use a mild exfoliant 2-3 times a week it removes all signs of flakiness and not only does your moisturizer absorb easier your make-up will go on smoother and look more natural.

Rituals will make taking care of your skin simpler, I know this may sound silly but if you organize your routine it will make it easier to stick to it, for example every Sunday you do a moisture mask and on Tuesdays and Fridays you exfoliate.

The last thing I am going to talk about is something I thought I would NEVER do on a regular basis, and that is drink water! I recently bought a BKR bottle, which is a glass bottle (Google it) that I LOVE! And it has made me start drinking water at least 3X more a day then I used to, I know it sounds crazy, but it is true and we all know the benefits of water for your skin.

We all have our favorite products and I have tried many in my line of work. These are the products I LOVE for my skin.

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel-This is a moisture enhancing gel enriched with vitamin B and hyaluronic acid , the body’s natural hydrator to bind moisture to the skin. Vitamin B is known to help with tissue repair. Makes skin feel SUPER SOFT!

SkinCeuticals Aox Eye Cream-minimizes puffiness and smoothes and refines the delicate skin around the eye without being too oily. This was actually recommended to me by my dermatologist.

SkinCeuticals Exfoliating Scrub-A unique face scrub with diatomaceous earth and aloe vera to gently exfoliate and smooth the skin at the same time.

Dr Hauschka Almond St. John’swort Body Oil- Provides instant relief of chronic dryness. It contains an organic base of sunflower seed oil and cold pressed sweet almond leaves which make your skin extra soft.

The seasons will change but with these skin perfectors my skin can stay the same.
