Spring is upon us and what better time is there to clean out your makeup drawer, freshen up your look and add some spring makeup colors to your beauty routine? Take advantage of the season of new beginnings to renew your daily beauty ritual.
Adding some spring inspired zest to your makeup kit doesn’t have to mean pale pink lipstick and light blue eyeshadow, instead you could add a few really fun and versatile products that will add some color and brightness to your face, without too much effort on your part.
The first beauty rule of spring is to always look full of life. Wearing a floral twirly sun dress just doesn’t look the same when combined with a sallow complexion. Give yourself an instant radiance boost with a bright, light-catching blush, swirled right on the apples of your cheeks. A little bit of shimmer in a rosy blush helps your cheeks to reflect light, giving you an instant glow.
Take that same concept to open up your eyes by putting a dab of shiny highlighter on the center of your lids, over any eyeshadow. Usually reserved for the brow bone and inner lids, a properly applied highlighter will brighten up your eyes, making you appear well rested and rejuvenated.
Spring is one of the best seasons to experiment with lip colors, as bright berries and corals are the perfect complement to the rainbow of colors suddenly flooding your wardrobe. If bright magenta lips is a bit too out there for you, take baby steps and try a sheer gloss version of the color you like.
After you have found a spring makeup look that you like, don’t forget to toss all the products that you have had for more than a few months. Makeup and skin care products do expire over time, and if you are unsure of expirations dates for your beauty products, look at this guide showing when to throw out your makeup, organized by product type.
