Recognizing excellence in film and television, the Golden Globes has kicked off the New Year and the beginning of the industry’s awards season in style. As we all know it’s not just about those who are lucky enough to take home a Globe, but those who can WOW us on the red carpet. Once again the carpet hasn’t failed to deliver some of the most gorgeous women in the most outstanding outfits. As always we’ve spotted the ones that stood out from the rest, and the unfortunate one or two that did so for all the wrong reasons. So without any further ado, here are our top picks from the 2013 Golden Globes.
Nude seemed to be the color of the night, and no one pulled it off like Isla Fisher. Shimmery elegance in this Reem Acra gown, as the statement silver faded into the illusion netting around the neck. Add to this her fiery red waves seductively pulled to one side, and you have one of the best looks of the night.
You can never go past Jessica Alba at any event, and with this Oscar del la Renta coral-hued mermaid style gown, it seems all too easy. Couple this with one of the biggest diamond necklaces we’ve ever seen—reported worth of $5.8 million!—and elegant waves, and the 31-year-old mother of two does it again.
Always cute as a button, Zooey Deschanel turned up the heat this year in a stunning strapless gown from Oscar del la Renta. Accessorizing with classy pearls, she cut a ravishing figure, even if she still looks like a bit of a goof with the double hand hip pose.
Kate Hudson blew everyone away this year in an edgy design by Alexander McQueen featuring an embroidered neckline and stunning golden belt. Accompanying this with soft, touchable hair that seems to fall with ease, Hudson definitely won our vote.
Easily one of the hottest stars of the night, Anne Hathaway brought out simple vintage class for a night that was always going to see her take home a gong for Les Miserables. Cutting a sleek silhouette, this elegant Chanel number was beautifully accentuated by a cute pixie cut, and a bare neck on her glowing creamy complexion—note: no spray tan in sight.
Unfortunately Lea Michele forgot that it was January and the middle of Winter, and despite recently returning from a vacation in Hawaii, she seemed to be sporting a more orange than bronzed look. The sexy slit is stunning, putting those legs of full display in this Elie Saab gown, but the difference between a sunkissed look and this fake tan is just too much to ignore.
I’m a big fan of the quirkiness and truly refreshing nature of Girls, but this unflattering number is not what a 26-year-old should be wearing. It’s too dark and heavy for such a young woman, and it just seems to be pulling Lena Dunham down to the ground.
